One of the things I like best about my job is the opportunity to meet and talk to lots of people. I recently had the privilege of talking or rather listening to two Senior Adults, though I'm not sure what the politically correct term for Seniors is these days. Please advise me if you know! One of them is 83 years old and teaches my son's third grade Sunday Bible Study. I'm finding fewer and fewer people who are older than me, so this man stopped me in my tracks to have him greet me at the door of my son's class. The first thing I noticed about him was his extremely positive reports about my son when I picked him up. There was clearly something very special about this man aside from his stamina. He spoke of my son in glowing terms, about his helpfulness, his leadership, his intelligence. I watched my son stand taller and prouder every time he heard his teacher say these wonderful things about him. Did I mention he is 83 yrs. old! Someone approached him to participate in another ministry and he said that he was sorry but he would not be able to give up his class. He said being surrounded by his third grade boys listening to his every word would be hard to beat. This is a first for him, teaching third grade boys, and he loves it and the boys love him. That much is plain to see. I have a feeling it will not be his last.
I'm happy to report that three people in our class signed up last week to serve in the Preschool area in response to an urgent need! Jack and Nanci Scott and Nellie More, we thank you. There is a Ministry Expo this coming Sunday on the second floor of the atrium where you can find out more about serving in any ministry in our church.
If you are interested in serving in Preschool, you can contact PreschoolMinistry@jfbc.org to volunteer. Kristi Williams said that 11:15 is prime time for visitors and a great time to volunteer. They are also in need of 25 more volunteers at 9:50. She added that serving is a great way to show hospitality to visitors in allowing them to attend Worship and Bible Study while children get to participate in classrooms they love.
Thank You from bccbikthus on GodTube.
